E-mail | Save | Print | By David Lieberman, USA TODAY NEW YORK -- After years of dithering and infighting by government officials and corporate executives, the high-definition TV revolution is finally here. | Keep your nose out of hotel rooms, Free Lance-Star |
| Post on 05-06-2006. |
| You people at The Free Lance-Star amaze me. I always thought you were one bunch of meddlers in local politics, and now you're telling the Fredericksburg City Council to pass one resolution regarding the types of movies guests might choose to watch at the new (private) downtown Marriott hotel ["Porno-nomics," May 25]. ... |

| Things get ugly in hip Netherlands |
| Post on 05-06-2006. |
| Dating back to the Second World War, our country and the Netherlands have enjoyed an emotional and very special friendship. Canadian troops were involved in liberating many Dutch villages and towns from Nazi occupation and more than 7,600 Canadians spent their last breath on the cause. There are no less than three prominent Canadian war cemeteries in the Netherlands: Bergen-op-zoom in southwest Holland, Groesbeek near the city of Nijmegen and Holten in the northeast. The Dutch to their credit have never stopped being grateful and Canadians, especially elderly Canadians, are welcome, well-treated guests when visiting the Netherlands. ... |

I know you don't read Dear Bill memos in the media as one rule of thumb, which is why the last time I wrote one of these it was addressed to Steve Ballmer, not you. Then the subject was RSS, and the need to embrace it. Whether you heard us or not, you've done just that. Now the subject is Attention, and the reasons why you should embrace it are as deeply obvious and demanding as were the ones you therefore effectively responded to when you brought Ray into the company. It's no secret that Ray is for all intents and purposes running the company now. The "Steve goes if the stock drops below $20" rumors are an unfortunate ValleyWagish analysis of the impact of bringing someone of Ray's caliber in and bifurcating Jim Allchin's role into strategic and operational (Kevin Johnson) segments. ... |

| Post on 03-06-2006. |
Every testosterone-charged man and figure-conscious woman will testify to the accuracy of that statement and rejoice at the great glory of nature. If you want to get to the bottom of the divisive pornography bill debate then this lady is the one responsible. Three years ago her name was eclipsing those of politicians and sports stars, nation-builders and demolishers, corruptors and crusaders. ... |
